I FOUND THAT MY PROBLEM WITH THE GEARS NOT LOCKING IN IS JUST AN AJUSTMENT PROBLEM...THE THING IS, I CAN'T GET MY ADJUSTMENTS JUST PERFECT. I SCREWED THE NUT ALL THE WAY DOWN AND THEN BACK UP THE THREADS AND NEVER COULD GET IT TO LOCK. IF I TAKE THE CABLE OFF I CAN SHIFT IT INTO GEAR ON THE MOTOR. MY CABLES WIL MOVE WHEN NOT CONNECTED BUT WHEN I PUT IT ALL BACK TOGETHER THE ONLY CABLE THAT MOVES IS MY THROTTLE CABLE. HELP.

If control lever is not binding while both cables are assembled and the throttle cable is moving freely then your problem lies within the shift cable.

WELL IF THE PROBLEM IS IN MY SHIFT CABLE WHY WILL IT SHIFT SMOOTHLY WHEN ITS NOT CONNECTED TO THE ARM? IF IT'S CONNECTED IT WILL MOVE BUT NOT FAR ENOUGH TO KICK IT INTO GEAR.

Re: GET IN GEAR "PART TWO"

question is why will it not move when cnnected.perhaps because it is partially severed and won't actuate moving a load.these cables are of predetermined lenghth and proper connection at control needs to be established as well.
