I have heard that Georgian Bay was a great destination to take a vacation and am thinking about going there. I would like to trailer my 25ft. boat and go camping. Going on the internet there seems to be a lot of possible places.
Does anyone have a reccomendation as their favorite place. I don't have a clue. On the web I found Beausoleil Island that looked like a possibility. Any other suggestions?

Re: Georgian Bay Vacation

Georgian Bay is the finest cruising/camping area in the United States. Generally unspoiled with skies so blue they make your teeth hurt. You and your family will be talking about this vacation for years! There are lots of sites you can research but the very best one for a small boat cruiser is www.continuouswave.com. Loads of information, loads of pictures and lots of 'local knowledge.' You could not do better than to gather all of his experience into your decision to go/no go. My experience has taken me into The Bay twice. Tobermory to Killiarney to Little Current....each port of call a different feel to the North Channel. Baye Fine is the only fjord in North America....Don't hesitate .... start planning.... you'll have a ball!

That is an interesting statement. I thought the Georgian Bay was 100% in Canada. No, I guess I'm sure it is 100% in Canada.

Just giving you a hard time...

I agree with your sentiment. It is one area of the world that is on my "MUST CRUISE" list.

Getting place but if you don't like rough open water try out Manitoulin Island. Many inland lakes on the island so they aren't as rough and better for water sports but if you like the open water and driving the boat to different campsites then Georgian Bay is a great destination.

Ahhhhh, I decided I want to go but there are soooooo many places and areas and islands in the Bay, I don't have a clue where to start looking to go. I want to trailer my 25ft. boat and go camping on an island or place along the shore that has docking for the boat. Does anyone have a reccomendation on where I should look. I like more mainstream than remote.

The possibilities are endless on Georgian Bay(my backyard).Where were you thinking about trailering to to launch the boat?I'm on the very southern tip of Georgian Bay approx. 100 miles north of Toronto.A lot of local boaters boat out to Beausoleil Island for the weekend and tie off and there is camping there. It can get pretty rough out on the Bay but there are a million Islands and bays to hide behind or in if something does blow up.Don't know how far you want to boat, but you could boat to the Bay right from Ohio.

P.S. A trip from one end of the Trent Severn Sys.(Port Severn on Georgian Bay to Trenton on Lake Ontario)would be an awesome trip also. You could kill 1-2 weeks running it back and forth.Lots of scenery, camping etc.

Looking for something easy and peaceful if that is possible. Not a hugh fan of rough water that I am not familiar with. Sounds like Georgian Bay might not be the place. Just wanted scenic camping and a little bit of cruising. After listening to you all thinking maybe something like put in at Honey Harbour and cruise over to Beausoleil Island to camp. Any thoughts?

I know its late for a reply, but I didn't want you to think your 25 footer wouldn't handle it here on Georgian. ITs fine, I run a 19 footer all day (and several days on the bay)

If you launch from the Midland/Penetanguishene area, there are a TON of areas to go to. We just spent 3 days on Beausoleil Island camping. They revamped and upgraded the main area (Cedar Springs) I personally like the other campgrounds on the Island (Chimney Bay, Oakes, etc) better than the "subdivision style" camping at cedar springs.
