Generic (Rule of Thumb) Fuel Consumption

A fellow in the biz says rule of thumb for fuel consumption, is for every 10 Hp = 1.2 us/gal.<br /><br />Would that mean DI would be 30% less and 4 stroke 40% less?<br /><br />Any thoughts or comments?<br /><br />Thank you! David.

That rule of thumb is about what I have been brought up to believe, but keep in mind those figures are at wide open.The substantial fuel savings in DI two strokes are real because of the controlled manner that fuel is delivered.
