Just recently purchased first boat. Had been sitting for 6 years. Has 75 chrysler on it model, and serial unknown at this time. Taken out a couple of times, and had minor problems considering set time. Replaced the lower unit oil, and added high octane fuel. After reading comments posted on this great web site, am concerned that I should take some more additional precautions. What do you recommend I replace or check before my next trip? Want to keep this motor running as long as possible, and am ignorant when it comes to boats. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Re: General Question

new sparkplugs and a new waterpump would be first on my list.

Re: General Question

did you add fresh gas to the old? or did you clean the tank out and then put fresh gas in?<br />also, i would change the lower unit oil and put a new water pump impeller in it.

Re: General Question

On the gas you may want to consider using 87 octane and use a stabilizer with it. Most older chryslers do not like high ocatane gas
