Gen II Trim Cylinder Replacement - Bleeding?

Replaced all 4 trim cylinders and hoses on my Gen II's with new SEI units and wondering about bleeding them. The Merc manual shows their procedure, disconnecting hoses and bleeding the up and down circuits individually. According to SEI's youtube video, however, it's sufficient to simply run the trim up and down 4 or 5 times without disconnecting anything, making sure the fluid reservoir stays full.

Does the SEI method work?

Thanks. Tough to do the "Merc method" single-handed. It's a long climb from the transom to the bridge on hands and knees (the boat's still covered). I'll take simple any day :joyous:

The Merc method works great to get contaminated fluid out of the system, but it IS a pain to do single-handed. (Unless you have a remote trim switch mounted at the transom. Even then, it's still bit of fiddling...)

The 'run it up and down' method worked fine. Thanks again, AllDodge. Tip to anyone who's interested:

1. Start with a full reservoir.
2. Run up and down a couple times, to the normal trim limit.
3. Refill the reservoir
4. Run up to full trailering position, then back down. Repeat..
5. Refill the reservoir, and you're done.

Running the trim up to the normal limit nearly emptied the reservoir, so you want to refill it before you run it up to the full 'trailering' position. Anyway, the whole process couldn't be simpler.
