Gen 2 M/C speedo tube retainer?

When I removed my gen 2 leg for the first time I kind of stretched the speedo tube and this clip (pic)kind of appeared from nowhere. Think it has something to do with holding the speedo tube in position but exactly where does it go? Also where does one even find it on m/c parts pics?
Any help appreciated.

That clip goes on the water tube from the drive to the transom and holds the speedo tube out of the way. Also one just like it hold the trim sender wire.
