Gelcoat gone, painting over metal flake

Howdy all! I have a 77 procraft bass boat gold metal flake that has zero gelcoat left on it. Im thinking about painting over the hull and was wondering if anyone has attempted this before. The hull is to ugly to try to go with clearcoat. Any and all help is appreciated!<br />Liemavick

sand it, fill in the dings, sand the dings, prime it, fill in more dings, sand it and paint it...
