This is my first post here, but I have been reading discussion for a long time, especially while I was doing research for buying my first boat. After months of research, hundreds of boats seen I finally settled for a Four Winns H190 2008. The boat looked flawless, engine had low hours, no scratches, no dents, no gel coat crack on the hull, leather seats looked brand new, overall I thought that I scored the perfect deal.
The boat was purchased one month ago, had in water half a dozen times and was very happy. Today I decided to clean it completely, removed snap on carpet and almost got a heart attack.
Inside the ski storage compartment which is located below the deck there is a gel coat crack, and also gel coat chip 1.5"x2". With this being my first boat I am not even sure how serious this is. Since it is inside the dry compartment and not exposed to the direct sunlight I am trying to calm myself down and convince that it is nothing to worry about, on the other hand I read some scary stories about gel coat crack. I am not even sure if I should be worry going boating? Should I pay somebody to fix it? Or can I do it? Attached are few photos, hoping that somebody can give me an advice.
