Hello,

I would like to change oil in my gearbox. I am not sure if part 44 (http://www.boats.net/parts/search/Merc2/Force/85 H.P. (1988)/856X8B/GEAR HOUSING/parts.html) is the correct screw to remove old oil.

If yes, do you have any tips & tricks how to unscrew it? I tried with allan key but it did not move and I just do not want to break anything... Last time by mistake I unscrewed part 32 and you can imagine what happened :)

Thanks a lot for your help....

My engine FORCE 85 HP 1988 model 856X8A

#44 is it. Get an allen wrench that fits. Put tension on it and tap on the shoulder with a hammer. Like an impact hammer, it should give. Good luck

I cannot unscrew it... What you think to remove gearbox, turn it up site down, remove old oil and screw it again to the engine and then fill new oil by FILL hole and leave WENT open?

Frank mentioned that behind the prop are bolts you can remove to drain the oil. I believe the lower two of four is all that's needed.
