Gear Ratio

I have an 1990 OMC 5.7 and I am trying to determine the gear drive. I have found one document stating its 1.40:1 but I havent found anything else to validate that information. Does anybody know?

There should be a tag on the drive with model numbers, what is it.

all Upper Gear Ratios for the 5.7 models that year were 21:16 unless they were high altitude, then they were 21:17
