My alpha one gen 2 is loosing gear oil, and my first resort was these forums and I have read Chris's "My drive is leaking oil" post, where he speaks about front seal and o-ring causing oil to leak IN the bellows. In my case however I detected that there is gear oil on the OUTSIDE of the bellows and oil line between gimbal and bell housing.
Can this be from a failing seal / o-ring in the upper gearcase or is the cause more likely to be a compromised hose or clamp or fitting ?
Reading all sorts of horror stories about the "new" plastic hose fittings... I can see the hose connection to the gimbal housing fitting is secured with a crimp clamp, and that area appears dry. How will the other end of the hose connected to the dribble valve in the bell housing be secured ?
What to do / not to do when attempting to replace the hose and clamps - if they turn out to be the culprit ?
Thanks for y'alls help, Andre.
