Replaced impeller, Now the gear lube comes out the hole on the right side of the lower unit when attempting to fill. Is my lower unit upper seal bad? I though I might have dropped or pined the little Quad seal,. I replaced that and it still leaks when I attempt to fill it.

Just moving you to the Mercruiser section...

Oil from that hole would indicate the shift shaft seal, the quad seal or the top box lower seals. You may have damaged them refitting the 2 halves together. Did you remove the whole drive or just the lower half?

Just the lower half, I've taken it apart and replacement the quad seal and took special care that it was clean and placed properly. I'm going to by a shift seal kits from here.

And change the shift seal a,d maybe the ones below the impeller housing. I really wish I could see for sure EXACTLY which one it is to have confidence that I fix it. I'd like to buy a ready made pressure test kit as I don't feel like pieceing one together, I hear there on ebay, but I haven't had any luck finding one. lol. I was also looking for youtube videos SPECIFIC to this endeavor with an Alpha One Gen II, But no luck.

Thanks for replying BTW:)

Makes since the link are disabled, but it was go 2 marine. I only mentioned that in case you know of any reason why those aren't good kits.

on a side note to OP.... you might want to get a drive shower.... your 1st pic shows the signs of a hot outdrive (white chalky-ish coating on the upper) like you run long and fast for extended periods of time... just my 2c

When you take the lower half off again do a pressure test on it. Then you'll know if it's the shift shaft seal. That's how I diagnosed mine.

I would advise never take the lower half off the sterndrive with the drive still attached to the boat. Reassembly is hit or miss, as problems occur when lifting the lower back on and aligning the shaft with the lower seal of the upper case. You cannot see the damage to the seals, and won't know it was damaged until you put oil back in.

Besides, if you are doing maintenance, how can you check alignment, inspect the gimbal bearing, lube the u-joints, make sure the bellows are dry? All annual maintenance requirements.
