gear oil leaking from lower unit

hello I have a 1979 mercruiser 228 305 with a alpha one outdrive I just notice that my outdrive star leaking gear oil like where the upper and the lower get together, last time I used the boat was october and everything was good this just start happening where my trailer is parked any ideas. thanks.

do that.
if ya ain't replaced yer impeller for a while, do that while yer in there after ya find yer leak...
get yer service manual up there too. then you can find out the facts on your rig. confirm proper service manual by yer serial number..

Ayuh,...

Your leak Has to be Fixed,+ it has to be Found before you can Fix it...

Have you narrowed down Exactly Where it's leaking,..??

yes impeller and water pump replaced in july last year that included all the orings, and will take a look on the manual and see If I can find something I will let you guys know.

You need to drain all the gear lube, then do a pressure and vacuume check of the drive. You need to pull the drive off the boat first, If you find gear lube in the bellows, you will know where to find the leak. It's very common to haave a leaky input shaft seal, usually the yoke has a deep groove in it where the seal rides, and usually needs replace too.
The manual is not going to tell you where the leak is, only how to repair it.
