One problem after another. I should have a new boat soon. Anyway, I removed the outdrive Alpha 1 gen I to replace the universal joints and found gear oil in the bellows. I'm going to do the seal kit, but I wanted to know what else I should do while I'm in that far. Brief history: Boat sat, sank, ran, sat, sat, given to happy new owner, new owner spends time, new owner spends money, money, time, money, new owner getting upset, wanting to sink boat. New bellows, shift cable, gimbal bearing. The gear lube removed when I started looked like warm chocolate syrup. The upper cap bearing is a bit rusty/pitted, not bad. Overall runs great. I am replacing the u-joints due to a growl when put in gear.

Inspect the drive shaft where the seals ride on it. If there is pitting on the shaft where the seal rides because of previous water intrusion into the bellows and subsequent corrosion, it will leak again.
