ok...need some help...i have got serious corrion issues...i go through 2 sets of zincs a season...my boat is '85 searay 255 amberjack with twin 3.8L v6. my big question is about grounding, i have two green wires that go to a/c panel that are not hooked up to anything in panel, they seem to go to bilge and connect to drain plug and a ground strip. should these be hooked up and to what? the groung in a/c panel?

my second question is: someone else has installed a mercathode system (two of them) that are connected to batteries. i have no idea how these work and IF they are working. any help is greatly appreciated (especially since i just had $2000.00 work done to outdrive because bearing carrier was so ate up it would'nt hold a seal, or oil...guess what happens with no oil!!!)

Re: gavanic corrosion issues

Those 2 green wires should be hooked up to something!!! I believe its called a gavanic capacitater (?) I don't know science behind it but it is very important to prevent corrosion from ac power.I have no idea about The mercathode system.Try posting on Electrical problems...or maybe J.B. will move it for you.18rabbit walked me through instaling a new breaker earlier this season, and explained it.I,m sure he will reply. What I can tell you is there is a piece of equiptment that should be there to hook up to.

Jim
