I'm having problems with a couple of my gauges.
1.My fuel gauge is always on empty unless I reach half tank.

2. My tach is stuck on 6000RPM's even when turned off.

3. My trim gauge is not working at all.

Any help on where to start and if they need replacing I'd like to replace all of them.. Any good place to get them as a kit?

Re: Gauges problems

Thanks, where should I start looking for problems?
I only checked connections and they were all good.

Ayuh,.... #1,... Pull the wire off the fuel tank sending unit, 'n ground it out...
The gauge should peg to Full...
If it don't, it's a Bad ground, or Bad gauge....
If it does, pull the sender to find the problem...

#2,... I'd guess the tach is junk,...

#3,... What motor/ drive are We talkin' 'bout,..??

There is a sender in the outboard unit that talks to that gauge. I'd confirm it's working by throwing a ohm meter on the wires and run it up and down.

Make sure the Tach is getting power. My tach sits all over the place, but centers at 0 when the power is turned on.

As far as the fuel gauge goes - follow Bond-o's advice.

Thanks guys, I'll try next time I go to the boat.
Motor is a Mercury blackmax 200HP from 1996.
I'll check all gauges are getting power next weekend
