Gauges not working- 225 HP 4 stroke

When I turned on the engine, the gauges didn't power up. The engine started just fine? Is there some quick checks i should run through on the engine or elsewhere? A quick look at the wiring didn't show anything disconected.

Sounds like you have a bad ground or hot lead to daisy chained gauges. Each gauge will have a G or GND post for the ground wire and an I or IGN post for Ignition lead which is the 12V power from the ignition circuit. If you have a multimeter you can check for continuity between a G post and a known good ground or the negative battery terminal. If you have continuity then ground is good. Then check for 12V between an I post and a good ground with ignition on. Ground or power is missing and once you know which it is you can start working back to find the problem.
