Gauge installation ???

I would like to install a tach, trim and speedometer on my 40 hp mercury outboard. I purchased a set of merc gauges and was wondering if anyone could tell me where to get a gauge harness online that plugs into the control box. My nearest dealer is about an hours drive.<br />Thanks Ed

I have been wondering the same thing myself, I just got a 81 merc 40 and i think for the speedo all you have to do is hook a hose from the gauge to the hose on the motor, I believe that is a Speedo pickup, as for the tach????? does anyone know how to hook a tach up to a 81 merc 40 with thunderbolt ignition???, o ya, i wanted to use a TELEFLEX tach

ED & Skidooosl<br />The Teleflex web site has a Technical support section that covers the installation of all their gauges. For Tach's see: http://www.tflx.com/PDF/99320.pdf <br />In this instruction it talks about wiring harness for most motors and gives a part number.
