Whats the best way to remove old gasket from the carbs? Do they make a special remover?

Re: gasket removal

OMC makes a product called gasket & gel-seal remover. Your local dealer should have it. Wear glasses, as this is some nasty stuff.

Re: gasket removal

omc does make a gasket remover, mite be the same as permatex.(metal surfaces)
dont know if you can use it on all surfaces.
if its the black poly carbs, the gumout carb spray worked for me.
but what ever you do be careful not to nick or scratch mating surfaces.

Usually ya' shouldn't need any thing to remove the manifold gasket from the carb. Just scrape it off and if you have some hard spots, soften it with carb/choke cleaner and use a small wire brush to remove the hard spots.

Re: gasket removal

For those stubborn, hard-to-remove pieces of gasket, I use a die grinder and Scotchbrite pads.
In fact, that's what I do to all the metal sealing surfaces.

c/6
Hooty
