Gasket material for Volvo 230 sea water pump

I recently changed the impeller on the sea water pump on my 1992 volvo 230a engine. The kit came with a replacement gasket for the front cover and everything went fine but after assembly, it appears I have a small leak on the back side of the pump.

There is a seal ring there and it probably needs replacing. I have never done it before but am guessing I might have to remove the front cover of the pump again. Is that correct?

I would like to have new gasket ready but can't find any to buy except included in another impeller kit. I understand the gasket acts as a shim too so thickness and material is important. Is that correct?

Are there any substitutes that can be used that might be readily available?

I would appreciate any tips or warnings. Please advise. Thanks

Your local Volvo Penta dealer should be able to get you a new gasket, the part number is 855901.

Thanks for the part number Don.

My local dealer is the one that told me that the gasket could only be had in an impeller kit. This is a small example of why I am learning to do my own maintenance.

I was hoping the material was readily available through other channels.

I found someone with the gaskets in stock.

Thanks again for the part number.
