Gasket in a tube

Instead of waiting for Monday to buy a gasket for my water pump can I use gasket in a tube you buy at any auto parts store?, tis ok or problems?

since I didn't get any positive responses I won't experiment, just anxious to get it done and was hoping I didn't have to wait til Monday.

Get some gasket material from the local auto supply and cut your own. That's an easy one to do.

You are better off with the right gaskets, less chance for something to go wrong. Also no nagging feeling of "will it hold".

The gasket is also a spacer...just a Thought
