Tryinig to find the octane rating for my 1976 Mercury 150hp. Anyone have any suggestions on the octane to use? Or where to find an original manual?

Hi,<br />If your timming is set at 21der at wot use regular gas. I use premium in mine any way. The fuel today drops in octain rating in 2 wks. So I error on the side of more octain. DO NOT RUN THE<br />MID GRADE WITH ALCOHOL IN IT!!!!!!!!! You will<br />melt the no 1,3,5 pistons. BYW if your timming is set at 23 degrees back it down to 21 now.

Yep, premium for the old inlines...its hard enough keepin the old girls together without feeding them junk gas, too
