gas vs diesel engine re-build interval

Could someone tell me how many hours to expect from a gas engine ie; Mercruiser 350 MAG <br />(V8) 300 hp.<br />compared to diesel engine ie; Mercruiser D4.2L (inline 6)turbo diesel. 240 hp.<br />or<br />Yanmar 4LHA-STP<br />(inline 4) turbo diesel 240 hp.

i've found that;<br />gas motors will live maybe 1500/2000hrs with Exceptitional mantaintance.....1000hrs with good P/M.....500hrs or less with poor P/M<br /><br />diesel motor will run 5000hrs or more with proper P/M......1000hrs, as long as you atleast think about changing the oil once,+ awhile.......<br /><br />Bondo
