I would like to put my two 6 gal gas tanks in the bow of my boat.
The boat is 17-1/2 feet would this cause operating problems?
And if I did, would I put the squeeze bulb near the gas tanks?
Thanks for your help in advance,,Mike

Putting your tanks in the front is no problem, however I would recommend you use the next size up in fuelline, 3/8" probably. Also you should have the primer bulb nearer the engine, not the tanks. If you have any doubts, set it up and run the engine with a vacuum gauge attached to a tee-piece at the fuel pump. It shouldn't be pulling any more than a 2" vacuum.

As achris said, it will work fine. I mounted a nice "portable" 12 gallon tank under the bow of my previous boat secured in place with brackets designed to hold a cooler.

I had a friend with a SeaRay 18' I/O with a closed bow. The tank was under the bow and was OEM equipment. I had a Caravelle trihull open bow and the tank was in front of the passenger seat under the bulkhead.

When I was a kid, running tiller controlled engines, we would unwind the hose on our gas tanks and put them as far forward as the hose allowed to help to get some weight forward (as you obviously want to do).

I agree that a larger hose diameter probably would be a good idea. Properly sized hose barbs should be available at an auto parts store in their brass fitting trays.
