I seem to have a problem getting gas from the tank. an external 6gal tank seem to work fine. vent is ok-Some one told me to check the uptake from the tank. I located it but the fitting seems small for any filter to be at the end of it. Is it just a tube going to the bottom of the tank? could it be clogged? Replaced primer bulb. bulb has difficulty coming back to shape. seems hard to pull gas up. Thanks.

Re: Gas tank uptake question

You seem to have narrowed down the restriction to the area upstream of the fuel bulb. Common causes for upstream restrictions include:

1) anti-siphon valve. This is located on the tank where the fuel hose connects to the fittings on the tank. Search for the term "anti-siphon" and you will find more information on troubleshooting and fixing this potential cause.

2) siphon tube. This tube can be plugged up at the tip. There may be a small screen thingy at the tip that is dirty or there may be an obstruction at the tip if there is no screen. I have also heard where tubes happened to be just the right length that the tip is pressed against the tank wall and restricting flow through the tip's opening.

3) Collapsed fuel line.

You might also consider blowing some air backwards through the fuel line to see how freely it passes through. You can also hook up a vacuum gauge to the fuel line to help narrow down the problem. See below thumbnails for more guidance.
