Has any one ever changed the fuel tank on their MR220V? I have a 1985, that Im switching to a 4-stroke and I want to put a new fuel tank in. Any problems I might run into?

If the tank is plastic or aluminum then cleaning is easy. But any steel or galvanised material then toss it !! Finding an exact replacement might be difficult. There are a number of plastic tank mfgrs that make many shapes, and sizes. When my old steel tank rusted thru, I bought a nice aluminum tank but mounted it under a seat, rather than in the floor wherevthe old steel tank was.

I bought a boat that sat for three years with a drained tank. I knew there would be fuel varnish and cud in it so i bought 15 basic inline filters and when the boat started bogging id take the three minutes to swap for a new one. Went thru 12 the first few months, had the boat for 8 years and zero fuel problems.

If the fuel from the tank is good enough for a two stoke, dont see that it wont be good for a four stroke.

pull the tank sender, and look. may not need anything but a mild cleaning.

I took my 50 gallon aluminum tank to radiator shop. Mine wasn't used in years so it was nasty. They can boil it out, at least i think that's what they said. It came back spotless.
