Gas Tank in the Sun

well someone mentioned last week that we must keep the new tank that come with the tohatsu motor. Well today I noticed my new tank with a new type relief valve was blowed up like a balloon .. It did not relieve the pressure??? WHY so I unscrewed the fill cap and let the pressure out. What else was I supposed to do.

That will happen with the EPA tanks. They pressurize up to 5 PSI before relieving. Thank your US government. You can let the vapors out as you did, but the EPA does not want any gas fumes to get into the air.
