Going to replace the float that reads the gas levels and ran into a small problem, the metal elbow that connects to the hose with thats missing the fastner is in the way of removing the float. I was told it should spin 90 degrees and come out i havent been able to make it back up to my boat yet to try, so just seeing if someone knows of this or could help me out.

Yes, they are usually threaded. Turn counterclockwise.

^^^+1 or just pull off the fuel hose. You may need to do that anyway if there isn't enough slack in the fuel line. Just remember to stuff a rag in the open fuel holes for safety and so you don't drop anything into the tank. I just replaced mine last year. It's a piece of cake!

What makes you think you need to replace the float? If the fuel gauge doesn't work there are several other things to check before pulling the sender.

Wires going to and from the guage to the sender. There are only 3 components you have to look at. The guage, the wires, the sender. One of them is bad.

You can use the SEARCH feature and the keywords FUEL GAUGE WIRING or similar. This has been discussed at least 75 times in this forum and includes troubleshooting and diagrams.
