Gas Problems

I recently had problems with a new gas tank. I couldn't get the fuel line primed. After cutting the end off and actually filling the line up with gas it finally worked. After the tank has sit for about a week I noticed that the bulb is completely deflated. To the point where it looks like someone sucked all the air and gas out of the line. The bulb is completely flat. There is no way I can get it to prime again without taking the end off and filling it with gas again. Any ideas why this may be happening?

Re: Gas Problems

Check valve in bulb may be bad or fitting at tank is bad. Remove the fitting on the fuel line at the tank and see if the bulb returns to normal. Could also be tank fitting is defective if it only happens with that tank. Try a different tank to rule that out.

A new fitting / pick up is a very likely suspect for being the source of your problem.

It wouldnt be the first time!

Re: Gas Problems

I had a similar problem when I went to replace an aging fuel bulb which was despite its age working perfectly when I replaced it. I bought a new aftermarket one and installed it. It would not pick up gas from the tank no matter how many times I squeezed it. However, by removing the end at the engine and putting beneath the tank it got primed and I have not had any problem since. Maybe the valve was stuck who knows.
