I have a 2003 50 hp Yamaha 2 stroke outboard. on the middle carb there are two holes on the top front starboard side of the carb. When the motor is running gasoline is pouring out of the back hole. I would like it to stop doing that...

Check float height if within factory specs and check with a flashlight if the seat is gunked that won't make the needle to sit and close tight into the valve.

Before I broke it down I decided to just go ahead and order a carb kit and go through them all as long as I had them off. And a water pump, and the throttle linkage that I broke....

Thanks again for the replies.

Typical filthy needle valve seat found after years of use and not running carb dry...

pics speak for themselves, carb used to spill fuel through the upper body, now not a drop...

looks the same to me
Do you think that after removing all that gunk, crap natural formation from the carb's needle seat, pics of the same carb will remain the same ? pic one stick has a highly polluted/darkened cotton whereas the second pic cotton is completely white, that's achieved after repetitive toothpaste micro polishing till comes out white clean.

That's why it's mandatory to inspect the needle's seat with a flasjlight before and after the procedure, will be a day/night difference, try it....

Look at the brass circle, that's the seat and the after photo looks a bit cleaner inside.

I usually just blast every where in carbs with Gumout carb cleaner. If real bad I'll soak them overnight, then blast all the holes and ports with carb cleaner followed by compressed air.

It's not just a bit clean, it's completely pristine shinny clean which the second pic doesn't show due to its reduced seat diameter for the lens to fully look inside. The purpose of micropolishing with toothpaste is to smooth out the brass circumference and pointy internals which are microscopic porous to the eye, that way will retain way less gunk formations over time with prolongued motor use. The needle sits and closes so well inside the seat that can stand on top of my primmer bulb and balance over it LOL!!
