Re: Gas mix chart
...You can never stop thinking about safety.
Amen to that brother. It's a shame the human animal can't help itself when it comes to complacency. Do the same thing over and over again and eventually your brain goes on automatic and that's when the screwups occur. Especially where machinery is concerned.
I've just now finished shaking the snow off my boots after having a good think on this very topic while plowing snow on the ol tractor. I was out there about an hour and had gotten into a regular rhythm -- lower rear blade, shift into reverse, push snow down drive and across the street into the big snowbank; shift into neutral, raise blade out of the snowbank, shift into forward, head back up the driveway and repeat. Clutch, shift lever, blade lever, clutch, drive, clutch, shift lever, blade lever, clutch, drive,.....
Well sure enough, my mind starts wandering and after I've buried the blade in the snowbank on a run down the driveway and across the road, instead of grabbing the lever for the hydraulics to raise the blade, I grab the shift lever, put it in gear and try to move. Well, now I've got a couple hundred pounds of wet snow on the back and only enough throttle set to drive away empty. I am certainly not ready for the machine to lurch, almost stall, start spinning its wheels, gain some footing, nearly stall again and try to throw me over the hood.
It dawned on my that some relaxing seat time on the old Ferguson could see me falling and running myself over if I didn't quit daydreaming. I had to make a conscious effort to stop, think about what I was doing repeat the mantra correctly in my head and resume.
Yeah -- Sometimes the human brain is its own worst enemy.
