i have a 1991 maxum 2100Ldr two cycle mercury 140 hp boat/motor. it is sitting in my driveway and yesterday it started to leak gas out of what i am assuming is the overflow outlet? it is about 96 degrees outside and in the sun . i last filled my tank up about a week ago, but ran the motor for about an hour. could i have overfilled the tank or will the heat make the gas expand? any help would be greatly appreciated

Re: gas leak

It's normal with a full tank of gas. It's the fuel vent fitting wher the gas is coming from. As the gasoline expands due to the heat, the vent is the only place it has to go.

Re: gas leak

Last time you filled it up,chances are that gas carryed over into the vent loop.As heat builts up,pressure builts up in the tank, pushing the gas out of the vent loop then out of the vent!
