I have a 2000 35hp johnson,we found gas mixed with the oil in the tank, is this supposed to happen?
the engine blew up for no apparent reason it was running super and started running rough now we have to rebuild or get powerhead its it recommended to premix for this motor ,and disable the oil mixer.
engine looks like it was starved for oil/cooling in #1 cylinder only, no buzzers went off. metal in cylinder going to pull apart today

Re: gas in oil tank

No the oil should never get to the oil tank.

I could not find a listing for your exact motor, so I looked at a 40HP from 2000.

Inspect the fuel pump for proper operaton. They have a real good reputation for reliability. If the pump is bad, it is a $400 item. A bad pump would starv all cylinders equally of oil. Maybe you have a dirty carb on #1
