Gas fill issue

Hi, I just started my boat for the first time in four years. Runs great but I tried to put gas in and It backs up the fuel neck real fast and then seeps in. I started the motor a few times and used a gas can to try to fill it but same thing. The fuel is getting in but it keeps going in slooooow. Any thoughts on why this is happening. Never happened before ever. Any ideas on what I should do to correct this.

As always any help here is greatly appreciated.

Re: Gas fill issue

Take the vent line off at the tank end. Get the compressor fired up and shoot a really descent volume of air at maximum pressure down the line, send them lil' buggers back where they belong... :D :D :D

Previous posts are likely pointing to the problem but would like to add: As the fuel level in the tank approaches 1/2 tank or better, the fuel may start backing up (normal). The gas station pump is pumping fuel faster than the air can escape through the vent. If the gas station pump handle nozzle has the variable locking mechanism, set it on the lowest (slowest) flow.

He said it did the same thing with a gas can.

Re: Gas fill issue

If it's not the vent line, then there has to either be something in the fill hose or it has collapsed in a spot.
Can you see the hose in it's entire length? or does it disappear under the floor of the boat?
