Can someone help me figure out why, after running my engine, gas drains from the barrel of the carbs? It's as if it's still being pump to the carbs even after the engine is switched off. It makes a real mess in my boat.

97 Mercury 175
Carbureted, Oil Injected

Thanks, Michael

How much gas is leaking out of the carbs? Could be a bad needle and seat or the float is bad

Hi, i just had the same problem. It was a bad needle. It was a new needle just out of the package, but the rubber tip was not straight and would not seat. I had to rebuild the carbs twice before i found the problem. When i primed the carbs with the bulb, that carb leaked gas even when it was turned off.

Same problem different reason

I had a new 85l (11+ gal) aluminium tank built and installed seethru style filters. Tank was washed with pressure hose but still ended up particles in the carbs Seems the gause filter were not fine enough?
