Gasoline and diesel prices in Mexico haven't changed in the last 4 or 5 years, since their large, overnight, increase prior to this time frame.

...Current prices as of 9/4/05...

Gasoline (Reg)... $2.25 ...equivalent to U.S. gallon

Diesel......$1.87 ........ ...ditto...

This information came from American's, who live in San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico, on the Sea of Cortez. (A really beautiful area, with killer fishing.)

The huge price increase overnight hurt many people and business' back then, but they learned to pass the increase along real quick. But lately it seems like a real bargan, especially diesel.

...Bob in Calif...

Re: Gas & diesel prices in Mexico.....

All fuel production is owned by the Mexican gument. Up until that time the Mexican Gument had been heavily subsidizing the price of fuel. They are still probably making money on it at these current prices. They probably do not refine their fuel like we do. A gazillion different varieties to please the beauracracy called the EPA. Plus they don't have the environmental expenses at the refineries like we do. Net result, their cost of production is a fraction of ours.
