I have determined the cycinder is "fubar"; do we have a reliable source for parts (other than local repair shops)? Anybody rebuild/service these things? Any good substitute item with a better reliability/longevity record ? Thanks

Last time I looked,no options for parts.Buy a cable,or buy a complete cylinder. If someone knows who made the unit for OMC,parts may be available.

DHP

here in the salt pond when they fail, and they seemed to fail a lot, I usually convince customers that its time to convert it to trim and tilt. some of the gas units would not last 18 months if the boat was getting used often. for a few hundred more you can purchase the parts from BRP to add T&T. its expensive but no more so than 2 gas units in 3 years or so.

I have a Johnson 2005 40 hp motor, How do you adjust the trim cylinder cable. I can manually raise and lower the motor by actuating the cylinder with out the cable. Whats the trick????
