garden sprayer is not a cruise a day

Folks,

This was actually a little bit funny. I am anxiously waiting for the o rings for my pressurized gas tank to come in the mail- I have a '57 10 hp seahorse. Well, I really wanted to see if my recent carb and ignition rebuild worked and didn't want to wait for the mail . I got the great idea to put gas/oil mix in a cleaned out chapman's sprayer and attached it to the fuel line. The motor started on 2 pulls and ran fine for about 2 miutes and then wouldn't retart.

I had flooded the engine in a spectacular fashion. I disconected the air line from the coupler and everytime I pulled the rope gas came squirting out. I would have thought the carb float would have prevented that. I removed the plugs and after a couple of days it seems largely dried out.

So if anyone else gets this idea- dont do it! :):eek:

Gasoline is kinda rough on the parts in those sprayers.

"I would have thought the carb float would have prevented that."

Too much pressure. Enough pressure will force the float needle off its seat and force the gas through the carb and out the vents, jets, and generally any place else it can run. Floods the heck out of a motor. The same thing can be achieved by sqeezing too hard on a primer bulb. Guess how I know that. . .
