I'm looking at getting my first boat, equiped w/ an early 90's Suzuki DT-40. The seller says the engine has been garaged for 3 years, and previous to that he only ran it occassionally.

My plan is to rebuild the water pump, fuel pump and carburators, change the plugs and lower end oil. Spares I plan to carry are extra plugs, prop and shear pins.

Anything major I'm missing with this plan?

TIA

Sounds like a good plan to me, Paul.

You might want to add a compression check and maybe a decarb to your list.

Good luck. :)

I'd also suggest lubing it up whereever needed. The service manuals usually tell where they should be lubed (throttle linkage, steering, transom mount, etc).
