I am gearing up to put some serious energy into my garage this fall / winter. :D I'm thinking slatwall all the way around with cutouts for electrical. Has anyone ever installed this in a GARAGE before and would you recommend steel for the Class A fire rating or would I get by with a paintable panel with inserts? I would like paintable for the flexibility of changing colors easily (and then I can add my red double pin-stripe fairly easily).

The barrier and exterior wall are concrete should I be concerned? I have a substansial furnace in the garage and I'm unsure what the current sheet rock is rated but it's original from 1965.

If I can get 8'x4' sheets that would be ideal. I see in MN there is an outfit called Golden Valley Supply that might have what I need but I'm just fishin for tips and info.

I would think that since you already have a "finished" garage. The paint able variety would be more than enough.

Some lumber yards can order it for you. -OR- you might try a shop that makes cabinet units for commercial buildings/stores. I have installed the stuff in up to 12' lengths. You might consider "furring" out your wall some if it is concrete, for moisture prevention.

Not sure what DAMM TIGHT is? Is it a material?

I was thinking of maybe going as far as using steel slatboard on the back wall to add durability since that's where my tool wall will be but I'm not sure I will take it that far.
