I have a 1992 four winns 190 5.0. Been having some trouble starting when cold. Checked the plugs there old maybe original and looked like they need replacing. The motor says on it gap .35 for motorcraft. The plugs removed were motorcraft and checked the gap on old ones it was about 0.19 on all 8 plugs. Is this something to be concerned about?

Definitely replace the plugs (or clean and gap the old ones).

You didn't mention the actual model number, so you could have 1 of 6 1992 models or 1 of 3 1991 models. Didn't see EFI in those years. So you should have either a 2 or 4 bbl carb. You might have a look at the carb auto-choke setting/operation and maybe the accelerator pump as those could also cause hard starting.

It's a 190 horizon cobra 5.0 omc

Yeah. That "Horizon" name was applied to a multitude of different model engines.
190 is just the HP rating........... you can go to http://epc.brp.com/ and find your model number to get specific part numbers etc.

Also, you might look at the following thread here on iBoats. http://forums.iboats.com/forum/engi...69-must-have-technical-information-for-diyers ....................there's a lot of good info there......starting with #1
