Hi again.
Based on the info from dunk, the correct plug for a 1992 Johnson 225 hp v6 is a Champion QL77-JC4. What is the prefered gap for this plug/motor?
Thanks again.

Re: Gap for QL77-JC4's

Hi, Joe. Clymer says to gap them .040 for models prior to '89, .030 for sustained low speed operation on '89s. My book doesn't go to '92.

That sounds to me like .040 for wide-range operation, .030 for extended trolling.

For what it's worth, Clymer says to use the surface gap QUL77V for sustained high speed operation. DHadley or Dunk should be the final authority on this one.

Good luck.
JB

Corm, OMC changed all plug gaps to .030 about 5 years ago and retro'ed it back to the 70's engines. I've never seen any of the surface gap plugs run well in an OMC. Merc love them but not OMC's.
