Gamefisher 15 hp lower won't come off

Just purchased a Gamefisher 15 hp from a little old lady.(REALLY) The motor is spotless. I pulled the plugs they looked new no visable wear on the motor whatsoever. So I plunked down $400 and took it home. First things first, Tried to pull the lower to replace the impeller. removed the four bolts and it only would pull down about an inch. Tapped on it with a rubber mallet and it would not budge. Also I removed 2 screws over the exhaust pulled the plastic cover off and found a corroded mini thermostat. the serial number is OE141896. Anyone know how to get this lower off and what year it is. I'm assuming it's a force. I know I violated the prime directive and bought a motor that wasn't running but gee wiz it sure does look nice.

The number you're looking for starts with 225.XXXXXX. You can at least see 'sploded views and get part numbers here;

You might see a bolt you missed or somethin'.

Model number is 225.581508, S/N OE141896, Can anyone tell the year and what the Force model number is. I need a carb kit, impeller kit, fuel pump kit and a thermostat. There is an allen screw that joins the shift link. Got that off and the lower came right off.

If it's a "Force/Mercury" Gamefisher, you need to disconnect the shift linkage before dropping the lower unit. There's a rubber plug to access the connection, look on the side of the above the lower unit.

The shift rod should be seen when you drop the foot down about 2 inches. Theres an allen head screw that holds the 2 rods together. You have to remove it to get the foot off.
