Please delete this posting. Sorry, was thinking this motor was made by Tohatsu, but now realize it''s Tanaka. Reposting this in the "other outboard" forum. I bought a used Sears Gamefisher 1.75hp awhile back. Never ran it till today. I put fresh fuel in with a 50:1 oil mix, using oil for air cooled engines.
Started on the second pull, runs well except I cannot get it to slow down to an idle where the centrifugal clutch for the prop drive disengages, running probably at half throttle. I only see one adjustment screw on the carb. Tried it but seems more of a fuel needle valve. Cable from the handle goes into a plastic cap on top of the carb, don't see any real adjustment here. Cable does seem to move well within its' cover.
Any suggestions?
Thank you, Bill

The carb has a small screw on the side to adjust the idle....it just screws in and out to control the carb slide.....counterclockwise for lower idle RPM's.....

Thank you, Robert. I had thought the screw was a fuel metering adjustment, but I tried it as you suggested, got the idle down about right. Motor has a tendency to stall after at idle for a short while. Difficult to get it set perfect, but overall I'm happy with it. Pretty clean motor, still has the spare shear pins in the holder. Originally bought this little motor to have on board in case my main motor died. Takes up almost no room and very light weight.
Thanks again.
Bill
