Galvanic corrosion on prop

I just replaced the prop on a 2002 6hp 4str with a hi-thrust prop.......on inspecting the original prob I found the hub on one side corroded completely thru for about 80% of the length.....amazing that it had not failed already....I assumed this was due to galvanic corrosion as the prop is isolated from the engine by that rubber-like core surrounding the spline....what is the purpose of this rubber insert?...anyway, a word to the wise.....

Are you sure it's not cavitation burn you're seeing?

The purpose of the rubber insert is to act as a weak link if you hit something with the prop.

Yeap, if it's not a cavitation issue, check, clean, replace all your engine anodes if worn more than 1/2 to 3/4.

Happy Boating
