Has anybody tried the synthetic g-oil?I will be trying it in my snowmachine this winter,i like the idea of it being 100 percent biodegradable. It is made from cow fat and tallow and though i will not be the first to try it you could apparently swallow it without croaking, lol. They also have a auto and marine version.might just be the ticket to shut up the enviros about 2 stokes.I think next season i will try it in one of my outboards and see how it goes.its suppose to be 100% safe for the enviroment and humans ,with no smoke or smell.Any ways i will test their snowmobile version this winter and report my findings .

Re: g-oil

Re: g-oil

Sorry -- there are a bunch of q-oil companies (by variations of the name) and since you didn't specify which one, I had to wing it. Green Technoligies is 57 cents/share and that doesn't leave me with a warm fuzzy feeling. But feel free to try the stuff. Let us know how it works or does not work.

Re: g-oil

I ran synthetic in the lower end of my 1989 Merc 200 hp. No problem there just lost a couple rings in a cylinder wall running semi- (blend)synthetic TCW111. No more engine.

Re: g-oil

been running syn for years, will only run synthetic in the snowmoblie period.g-oil is a differnt way of making syn -oil thats all.remember syn-oil is man-made to begin with guys so this is just using cow-tallow and fat and nano tech .i will try it in the sled this year and see how it goes and if i like it i will try in one of my smaller outboards first.really i cant lose atall as if anything happens i have a excuse to buy a new motor, lol.remember before oil was used out of the ground we humans use whale oil for lots of stuff.any ways i will try it and report how the sled runs and so on,there,s not much use tearing it apart at the end of the season to report on wear as im using it in a 15 year old yamaha v-max 600 so it already has a fair amount of miles to begin with but will do a pre and post season compresson check just to keep track a little.as an aside if anybody is curious i met a rider from supertrax snowmobile magazine last year on a trip that was testing a e-tec ski-doo (600) and he absolutly loved it .it got stunning mileage and used little oil after break in and had good power.

Re: g-oil

Castor or "bean" oil had been used for a long time in 2 cycle engines, it even smells nice when it burns. Oil is oil as far as the engine is concerned, some have less ash and varnish accumulations to stick the rings but all the engine cares about is a layer or viscous liquid to separate the metal parts.

"E" this and "e" that is a bunch of BS if you ask me, I would switch back to bean oil in a heartbeat if it was cheaper. Guess what, as long as the market price has been set it will never go down in price, if it says "green" anywhere on the label it will be 2-10 times more...even if its a sunflower oil (which works pretty good BTW).

I have experimented with all kinds of oils in R/C ringless two strokes and everything works...even Crisco. I look at this as strickly marketing nonsense to charge more money for basically a waste product. I say put a product on the shelf that lets me run pure sunflower oil with a one ounce additive bottle to treat four litres for $1 and I will jump on board.

Until then I will wait.

seeing as how im running syn allready its no big leap to the green stuff as the price is no diff.though ive never run into it im sure some day one of the enviro wacko,s will try to take me to task for using a 2 stroke, imagin their suprise once they take the bottle out of where ever i shove it and read what its about, lol.though it doesnt seem to affect us as much concider what our american friends are going through right now what with this stupidity of non 2 stroke lakes etc,if you have a totally safe and enviro friendy 2 stroke oil maybe we wouldnt have this .i guess right now it comes down to cost etc,and right now i can afford to spend it though id like to see it be about half of what it is right now.

The odor of burning castor oil mixed with gasoline in an engine is sweet and lets you beleve the pistons are happy ...
