welcome aboard
just an FYI, fiberglass boats are designed to last 15 years. with care and maintenance, the service life can be about 20 years or so prior to major overhauling. keep in mind your boat is 30 years old
most fiberglass boats are generic tubs assembled with minimal effort with a motor and drive in them from companies such as Mercruiser or Volvo Penta, and purchased rigging bits from a NMMA selling consortium.
a quick google search shows that most of the 1992 Futurecraft 240's that have pictures have Volvo Penta AQ series drives on them
the AQ series drive was replaced with the SX drive in about 1994, so you would be looking at older boats to transfer your motor and drive into.
as to the value of the boat, its a generic fiberglass deck boat / pontoon boat designed in the late 80's. Futurecraft went out of business in 1992. so unless you have a huge sentimental attachment to the boat, it wont have resale value, even if you sunk in the $10k worth of materials into it to restore the structure, hull, and interior, not to mention your 2-3 years worth of time, you will never recoup the cost.
yes, the $10k is real. it is based on todays prices in US dollars
the cost to renovate the hull and structure will cost you about $3500-$4500 (up from $2500-$3000 in 2019)
the cost to renovate the interior will cost you about $3000-$4000 (up from $2000-$2500 in 2019)
misc costs will be between $1000 and $1500 (up from $500-$700 in 2019)
and that is assuming your motor and drive are perfect.
