Can't have that makes way to much sense! Man a day at the lake would be so much cheaper.

High School chemistry.

Electrolyze water into H(x2) and O. Then burn the HH in the O. Energy released is less than the energy used (electricity) to break down the water. We did that in Miss Williams' Chem lab in 1948.

Water as fuel? Hogwash. Make hydrogen with electricity and burn it in oxygen. The fuel is the hydrogen. Hydrogen powered cars simply burn hydrogen electrolyzed from water in exactly that way, except they don't use the oxygen in the cars, they use plain air (about 20% oxygen). They don't claim to use water as fuel.

He may have come up with a way to control the burning of the H in the O that works like a hydrogen-oxygen rocket (as used in the shuttle), but it looks to me exactly like a Hydrogen-oxygen rocket.

Might be the biggest hoax of the year.

What JB said and Popular Mechanics mag almost 40 years ago. Or as my favorite reality checker always says "there is no free lunch".

Using hydrogen as a fuel someday may be a reasonable way to convert one energy into another more usable energy, but it's always at a loss.

Oh no way man. Have you lost your mind. Fly in an airplane like a bird, then you dream up this whole jet thing. Let's all go stick our head in the sand and just keep paying Exxon which is fine with me cause my daddy had a bunch of land, and a bunch of Sun Oil and Texas Co. stock which has been rolled to the big boys. I just hate what burning gasoline does to our environment cause I really do love to fish in clean water and breath clean air.

JB,

You just crushed my world. Running my car on water would just be great. I was wondering why he needed a gas and water driven vehicle just the same. Seemed a little unusual.

I read an article in popular science where they fired a rocket powered by oreo's. Maybe there is still hope.

I like the diesels running on waste fryer oil. They apparently smell like what the oil fried. If you were to market it right, you could have your choice of Fried Chicken, french fry, Apple Fritter, etc. scented fuels. Mix a few together for "Chicken BBQ" or "Thanksgiving Dinner".

Using fuel to produce hydrogen by splitting water molecules would be silly and inefficient. Hydroelectric power can do it and provide the water to break down. Wind and Solar as well. Those systems could be as close to perpetual motion machines as we can make. No fuel to buy, just machinery to build and maintain to make fuel. Largely self-sufficient as long as there's water, wind, and sun. :)

I also like the idea of heating homes with methane collected from landfills and sewage fermenters, either human or animal. Everything from corporate projects to "Grandpa's Pig Farm Organic Methane". Fortunately that doesn't smell like what it came from. ;)

Re: Future of fuel?

Only one problem with that thinking Willy. Energy that you can sell on the open market i.e. electricity is not free. You lose the opportunity to simply sell it, AKA Opportunity Cost . . .
