I have installed a fuse box for convenance, keeping all fuses in one place. I have used marine grade wire (tined) to power the box along with shrink wraping all connections. I'm in the process of redirecting the power and ground leads from instruments / radio to the fuse box. In some cases the wire gauge from the unit is small. Is it ok to attach a larger gauge (one or two sizes) wire to the existing wire? In most cases it would only be 24 inches.

As long as you keep the fuse sizes the same you will be fine.
