I have decided to use a Blue Sea fuse box on my pontoon boat in an effort to keep all of my wiring clean and in order. The main line is inside vinyl tubbing to protect from chaffing. My fuse box will allow 12 connections. I have run 8 gauge (tinned wire) from the Perko to the fuse box. I have purchased a 30 amp fuse to place at the Perko for protection to the main line. Am I thinking in the correct direction? Is 30 amp enough?
I plan on placing the Fm radio, additional 12 volt plugs, GPS / Depth finder, and some additional lighting to the fuse box. This will insure future growth and one place to look for a blown fuse. All of this will be connected to the trolling battery, not the main starting battery.

Re: Fuse Box

As long as all of the things you connect to the fuse box do not exceed 30A total current draw a 30A fuse is fine.
